duo
Folk-jazz duo Adam Cordero & Odin Scherer have been playing music together since they met at The New School in 2017. Their most recent album Sonora (Tidebloom Records) explores the timbral possibilities of a woodwind and guitar duo, in which Adam plays bassoon, clarinet, alto saxophone, and soprano saxophone, and Odin rotates between archtop guitar and acoustic guitar. Sonora "explores musical landscapes, balancing robustness and fragility to evoke significant emotional responses" according to acclaimed reviewer Filipe Freitas at JazzTrail - click here to listen. Since moving to NYC, Adam and Odin have performed at The Jazz Gallery, Smalls Jazz Club, Bar Next Door, Williamsburg Music Center, ShapeShifter Lab, and at the esteemed jazz radio station, WBGO-FM. Their music aims to cross genres, blurring the lines between American folk music, modern jazz, contemporary classical music, and various world musics. Both musicians are active on the NYC scene, invested in bringing the modern jazz community together through their work as founders of the music venue Julian's NYC, as well as through their newly-established label Tidebloom Records.
